A Bit About Me
Dr Andrew Bamber is an experienced Clinical Psychologist who has been supporting children, young people, and families since qualifying in 2012 from the University of Hertfordshire. As an associate with NeuroKids, Dr Bamber brings extensive expertise in working with young people who present with complex emotional and behavioural needs, including those with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, Autism, and ADHD. Dr Bamber is committed to helping children and families navigate challenging developmental and emotional experiences with compassion and clinical insight.
Dr Bamber has held highly specialist roles within NHS services across Hertfordshire, Bristol, and Gwent, where he has provided complex assessments, formulations, and evidence-based interventions. He is experienced in supporting families, education settings, care providers, and multidisciplinary teams to better understand and respond to behaviours of concern, emotional distress, and developmental needs. His approach is grounded in Behavioural, Systemic, Attachment, and Trauma-informed models, and he has advanced therapeutic training in Systemic Family Therapy, Circle of Security Parenting, and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).
Dr Bamber specialises in co-producing care plans that are strengths-based and family-centred, aimed at improving quality of life and emotional wellbeing. He works with children and young people across a wide range of needs, including family relationship difficulties, anxiety, low mood, anger, sleep difficulties, avoidant and restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID), and toileting and feeding issues in the context of neurodevelopmental conditions. He is trained in the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) and Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R), bringing diagnostic clarity to complex developmental presentations. He also has extensive experience in facilitating and supervising psychological groups and workshops for families and professionals, promoting systemic understanding and collaborative care.
Dr Bamber is known for his creative, engaging, and playful therapeutic style, always placing the child and family at the centre of his work. He integrates Positive Behaviour Support, Narrative Therapy, Attachment-informed approaches, and Systemic Family Therapy to provide individually tailored interventions. He is also a skilled trainer and educator, offering teaching on a range of topics including Autism, ADHD, learning disability, trauma, anxiety, and behaviour.
