Therapeutic Approaches

At NeuroKids, we use a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches tailored to meet the unique needs of each child and family. Support offered include Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for managing anxiety, emotional regulation, and behaviour; Habit Reversal Therapy (HRT) for addressing tics and repetitive behaviours; social skills training to enhance peer interactions and communication; and mindfulness techniques to improve emotional well-being and stress management.

We incorporate systemic and family-based approaches to strengthen relationships and create a supportive environment for long-term growth and resilience.

What we offer in psychological therapy:
  • Evidence-based psychological interventions tailored to the profile and needs of the child

  • Interventions grounded in formulation following assessment

  • Support linked to wider therapeutic goals, rehabilitation plans, or educational planning

  • Collaborative working with families, MDTs, schools and case managers

  • Ongoing review of outcomes and adjustment of goals

Is This The Right Service For My Child?

NeuroKids provides specialist psychological therapy for children and young people with clearly identified psychological, neurological or neurodevelopmental needs. Our therapy input is assessment-led and formulation-driven, and is most appropriate where there is a defined therapeutic question or goal.

Psychological therapy is most appropriate when:
  • Emotional or behavioural difficulties in the context of a known diagnosis or neurodevelopmental profile

  • Emotional regulation or behavioural distress following neurological illness or brain injury

  • Psychological input linked to a prior assessment, rehabilitation plan or educational plan

  • Therapy focused on specific functional outcomes, rather than general wellbeing support

For Parent-Led Referrals

We do not provide general wellbeing advice, informal consultations,  or open-ended sessions where families are unsure what support is needed. Before enquiring about therapy, please be clear about:

  1. What the main difficulty or concern is

  2. How this is affecting your child’s daily life (home, school, relationships)

  3. What you are hoping therapy will help to change

For more detailed information, parents can also download our Psychological Assessment & Support Guide for Parents, which explains assessment options, fee structures and how therapy is typically delivered.

For Case Managers & Solicitors

Where NeuroKids is formally instructed by a case manager or solicitor, psychological therapy may be provided as part of a structured rehabilitation or care package, informed by assessment, formulation and clearly defined therapeutic aims, and delivered in collaboration with the wider multidisciplinary team.
