Parent Support Enquires
At NeuroKids, we’ve designed a clear and efficient request for support process to ensure children and young people receive the right care as quickly as possible.
For Parents & Self-Funding Families
NeuroKids provides specialist, assessment-led psychological and neuropsychological services for children and young people with neurological, neurodevelopmental and complex emotional needs. This page explains how parent referrals work and helps you decide whether NeuroKids is the right service for your child.
Is This the Right Service for My Child?
NeuroKids is most helpful when there is a clear reason for assessment or support.
Before contacting us, we ask parents to consider:
-
What is the specific concern or difficulty?
-
How is this affecting your child’s daily functioning (home, school, emotional wellbeing)?
-
What do you want the assessment or support to help clarify or change?
NeuroKids may be suitable where:
-
There is a known or suspected neurological or neurodevelopmental condition
-
Your child is experiencing specific cognitive, emotional or behavioural difficulties
-
An assessment is needed to guide intervention, rehabilitation or educational planning
-
You are seeking clear answers and recommendations, rather than general advice
If you are unsure what you are seeking, or are looking for general advice, NeuroKids may not be the most appropriate starting point.
How Parent Referrals Work
For parent-led referrals, we offer defined assessment pathways with fixed fees, which are agreed in advance.
Our work typically begins with:
-
A structured assessment
-
A clear formulation of your child’s needs
-
Practical, outcome-focused recommendations
Following assessment, the treating clinician will discuss identified clinical needs and any recommendations for ongoing psychological support where indicated. Any further input will be agreed in advance.
Therapeutic input is offered only where indicated, is time-limited and reviewed regularly. We do not offer open-ended or exploratory consultations.
Assessment Pathways
For parent-led referrals, NeuroKids offers defined assessment pathways with a clear scope, fixed fees and agreed outcomes. These pathways are designed to answer specific clinical questions and support decision-making about next steps.
Each pathway:
-
Is assessment-led, with a clear clinical focus
-
Has a defined structure and timeframe
-
Is fixed-fee, agreed in advance
-
Results in clear, practical recommendations
Assessment pathways may include psychological, neuropsychological, or educational psychology input, depending on the child’s presentation and the questions being addressed.
To help families make informed decisions, we ask that the relevant Parent Information Guide is reviewed before submitting a referral request as these provide detailed information about the available assessment pathways.
Parent Information Guides (Essential Reading)
Please review the relevant guide:
These guides explain:
-
What the assessment includes
-
Typical timelines
-
Fixed fees
-
Whether the service is appropriate for your child
These guides are designed to support informed decision-making and help families determine whether the service is appropriate before submitting an enquiry.
Making a Parent Referral Request
If, after reviewing the guide, you believe NeuroKids is the right service, please complete the Enquiry Form
When submitting your enquiry, please provide a brief summary of:
-
Your child’s background
-
The specific concern or question you are seeking to address
-
The type of support you are requesting
-
Whether you are seeking face-to-face or remote input
This information helps us to triage enquiries appropriately and confirm whether we are able to assist.
All enquiries are reviewed to determine whether they fall within the scope of our service. We will confirm whether we are able to assist and, where appropriate, advise on the most suitable assessment pathway and next steps.
If your enquiry is suitable, you will be invited to complete a more detailed Request for Support Form, which enables us to gather relevant background information and identify the most appropriate clinician.
A Final Note
NeuroKids is a specialist service. Our aim is to ensure that every child referred receives the right assessment or support, at the right time, with a clear purpose and outcome.
Reviewing the Parent Information Guides before contacting us is the best way to determine whether this service is appropriate for your child.
