Dr Danielle McLymont is an experienced Principal Clinical Psychologist with over 18 years of NHS experience working with children, young people and families. She has specialist expertise in paediatric psychology, paediatric neuropsychology and neurodevelopment, and has worked extensively with children with epilepsy, neurological conditions, acquired brain injury, complex medical needs, autism and ADHD.
Dr McLymont has held senior clinical leadership roles within paediatric services, including leading paediatric psychology and autism assessment teams. She has designed and implemented new assessment pathways for autism and ADHD, and developed psychology services for children and young people with epilepsy in line with national standards, including Epilepsy. Her work has included service audits, quality improvement projects and national presentations, all focused on improving psychological care for children with neurological and long-term health conditions.
In her clinical practice, Dr McLymont provides specialist neuropsychological assessment and evidence-based intervention for children and young people with a wide range of difficulties, such as pain, chronic fatigue, functional and non-epileptic seizures, feeding and toileting difficulties, ARFID and other complex medical presentations. She is also highly experienced in assessing and supporting neurodevelopmental needs, using tools such as the ADOS-2, ADI-R, 3Di, Conners and other standardised neuropsychological measures (e.g. WISC-V, WPPSI-IV, NEPSY-II, ABAS-3, BRIEF-2).
Dr McLymont’s approach is collaborative, compassionate and family-centred. She integrates cognitive-behavioural, systemic, ACT and EMDR-based approaches, alongside a strong understanding of brain–behaviour relationships and the impact of medical conditions on children’s emotional wellbeing, learning and everyday functioning. She works closely with families, schools, medical teams and other professionals to develop clear, tailored formulations and care plans that support children’s quality of life and participation in home, school and community life.
