Dr Fernandez-Ford is highly experienced in supporting individuals with a broad range of emotional and psychological difficulties, and has particular expertise in working with children and young people with complex needs and neurodevelopmental conditions, such as Autism and ADHD.

Dr Fernandez-Ford has worked in NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), where she provided therapeutic support to children, teenagers, and their families, and contributed to multidisciplinary diagnostic teams for autism and ADHD. She has supported individuals across the lifespan with difficulties including anxiety, low mood, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic attacks, low self-esteem, emotional dysregulation, anger, bereavement, and challenges within family relationships. She has a special interest in working with anxiety, and is passionate about empowering children and their parents with the skills and understanding to manage anxiety effectively.

She works flexibly and collaboratively to tailor support to the unique needs of each child and family, placing strong emphasis on building a trusting therapeutic relationship.

Dr Fernandez-Ford also has extensive experience in conducting psychological assessments following trauma and abuse, including within Family and Civil Court proceedings. She currently provides consultation and assessment at a specialist residential school for children and young people with autism and severe learning disabilities. She has co-facilitated parent groups exploring the concept of chronic sorrow, supporting parents of children with additional needs to process their experiences with compassion and validation.
